Why Buy Rare Breed Fleece?

There is an estimated 1,400 different sheep breeds in the world. Sadly, a third of them are endangered. Each breed of sheep that is lost reduces biodiversity and genetic variety.

Traditional breeds are better adapted to the conditions where they were developed, reducing the need to use intensive agricultural practices.

By buying breed specific fibre and yarns, you are helping preserve these endangered breeds of sheep.

Maintaining traditional breeds allows small farmers to have an income by selling the wool of their sheep without competing with large scale producers.
